MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />JUNE 5, 2014 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held <br />on the 5th day of June, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Patti Sullivan called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Jeff Heikke <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Dave Miller <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Mr. Kong Vang <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV Prod. <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />MINUTES The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the May 1, 2014 <br />meeting. <br />VETERANS Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant, reported that the Groundbreaking <br />MEMORIAL Ceremony for the Veterans Memorial Park project will be held on <br />PARK Monday, June 9th, at 6:00 p.m. at the site located on Little Canada Road <br />near Market Place Drive. He reported that fund-raising efforts for the <br />project are progressing well, and the project is about 50% funded. <br />Sanders then reviewed the project design in detail noting that the existing <br />plaza will be incorporated into the Veterans Memorial and will be the <br />location that memorial pavers will be placed. Pavers are currently being <br />sold and people can purchase pavers in honor of veterans as well as <br />individuals currently serving. People interested in purchasing a paver can <br />obtain information from the City's web site or by contacting City Hall <br />directly. Sanders reported that another feature of the Memorial is a <br />limestone wall that will include the name of the park as well as emblems <br />from each branch of the military. He noted that there are also <br />opportunities for businesses and others to be recognized for contributing <br />to the Memorial. The existing walkway will be extended into the park as <br />one of the primary features of the Memorial. Along the walkway there <br />will be a granite stone with a plaque in honor of those that served. There <br />1 <br />
