MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />JUNE 5, 2014 <br />1. Bench (recycled materials) $1,200 <br />2. Landscaping (native materials as part <br />of natural landscape) $1,000 <br />3. Interpretive Sign (describe native flora <br />and fauna in the park and creek corridor) $1,500 <br />4. Reforestation (native trees to support the <br />wooded areas) $1,000 <br />The consensus was that this approval still stands. <br />ICE CREAM Steinert reported that the Ice Cream Social will be held on Thursday, <br />SOCIAL July 31" in Spooner Park. He noted that he has received confirmation for <br />the puppet show and the Fire Department's participation and is awaiting <br />word from the Sheriff's Department Canine Unit. The Director indicated <br />that he will contact Culvers to confirm their sponsorship of the event. <br />FIRE BARNS/ The Director reported that the City Council approved the budget for the <br />SKATE PARK Fire Barns/Skate Park Warming House project. He indicated that the <br />WARMING project should start within the next couple of weeks and will take <br />HOUSE approximately two months to complete. Miller asked if the skate park <br />UPDATE would remain open during construction. The Director replied that it would <br />and the Old Fire I-lall space will continue to be rented as well. <br />JULY The Director noted that the next Commission meeting is scheduled for <br />MEETING July 3`d, and suggested that the July meeting be cancelled. He indicated <br />that if it appears there is the need for a Commission meeting in July, he <br />would contact the Commissioners for an alternate date. The Commission <br />agreed. <br />OTHER The Director reported that registration has begun for Archery Lessons and <br />BUSINESS Firearm Safety Class. Ball teams have either started or will be getting <br />underway shortly. <br />The next Market Place Morning Talk is scheduled for June 11th from 9:30 <br />a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Market Place Bingo Hall. The subject is <br />"Maintaining Regularity". <br />The Farmers Market will begin on Monday, June 23`l at the Saxon Lanes <br />with hours of operation from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be <br />approximately the same number of vendors as in previous years. The <br />Director noted that initially the location will be at the front of the Saxon <br />
