MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 25, 2014
Keis asked about the current PUD Zoning of this property. The City
Planner noted that a special PUD District was established for this property
for use as Dock 86. The applicant is requesting an Amendment to the
PUD District to accommodate the changes they are proposing.
At this point in the meeting, Johansen reviewed the project as a total
describing the location of each furniture entity. He noted that currently
under the Dock 86 operation, there is about 60,000 square feet in retail
space and 100,000 in warehouse. About 90% of the space will be
converted to retail.
With regard to the Planning Commission's recommendation to relocate
the access point on the Country Drive curve, Johansen indicated that given
the elevation changes that relocation was not possible. He indicated that
Hom would remove existing landscaping that is blocking visibility at the
driveway accesses and will re -landscape with lower growing materials.
He also reviewed overall landscaping improvements that will be made to
clean up the area and do some screening of an existing shed and tank.
Blesener noted that the current pylon is very close to the building.
Johansen indicated that the pylon will be in the same general vicinity, but
closer to Country Drive. Johansen again pointed out the longer and
narrower appearance of the pylon. He indicated that in addition to time
and temperature, the reader board would also be used to advertise their
other brands, such as Sleep Express and Seasonal Concepts, as well as rug
sales and other events.
There was no one else present from the general public wishing to
comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Keis, seconded by Boss, the public hearing was closed.
The City Planner reported that based on the Council's approval of the
various elements of this request, the PUD District Zone for this property
will be rewritten to reflect the revisions. Johansen noted that the hulk of
the PUD District for this property will remain the same.
Blesener suggested approval of the request as submitted, but asked that
Flom try to keep the use of temporary signage at a minimum
Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2-14-6-103 —AMENDING THE PLANNED UNIT
DEVELOPMENT FOR ADDITIONAL RETAIL SPACE AS WELL AS
SIGN AND DISPLAY CHANGES REQUESTED BYHOM
8
