MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />JULY 10, 2014 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 10th day of <br />July, 2014 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Chair Tom Fischer called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: Mr. Tom Fischer <br />Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Steve Ledin <br />Ms. Heidi Murphy <br />Mr. Nick Schwalbach <br />ABSENT: Ms. Jennifer Maleitzke <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />MINUTES The June 12, 2014 Planning Commission meeting minutes were approved <br />as submitted. <br />VARIANCE — The City Planner reported that the owners of 219-223 Little Canada Road <br />219-223 have applied for a Variance to the sign setback requirements for a new <br />LITTLE monument sign to be located adjacent to their driveway access to Little <br />CANADA Canada Road. The required setback is five feet and the applicant is <br />ROAD — proposing to construct the sign on the property line due to concerns over <br />MAYHEM visibility at this intersection. The Planner pointed out that this property <br />PROPERTIES has a narrow frontage on Little Canada Road. <br />The Planner reviewed the pictures which show the intersection with the <br />monument sign meeting required setbacks and with the requested <br />Variance. The City Planner indicated that requiring the five foot setback <br />makes the sign much less effective. The Planner indicated that in <br />considering a Variance request the City must find that the proposed use is <br />reasonable and that there are practical difficulties that are unique to the <br />
