MINUTES <br />EXEMPTION <br />FROM <br />ARCHITEC- <br />TURAL <br />GUIDELINES - <br />223 LITTLE <br />CANADA ROAD- <br />KAPOSIA <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />AUGUST 14, 2014 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning <br />Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 14th day of <br />August, 2014 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Chair Tom Fischer called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the <br />following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION: <br />ABSENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Mr. Tom Fischer <br />Mr. Scott Barraclough <br />Mr. Tom Duray <br />Mr. Steve Ledin <br />Ms. Jennifer Maleitzke <br />Ms. Heidi Murphy <br />Mr. Nick Schwalbach <br />Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner <br />Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />The July 10, 2014 Planning Commission meeting minutes were approved <br />as submitted. <br />The City Planner reported that Kaposia, a tenant of the London Square <br />office complex at 223 Little Canada Road, has applied for an Exemption <br />to the Architectural Guidelines related to the prohibition against white <br />background signs. The purpose of this provision is to limit the impact of <br />sign glare to public streets and neighboring properties. The Planner stated <br />that the Architectural Guidelines call for signs to be reversed out - light <br />letters with dark backgrounds. He noted that the sign proposed is not <br />internally lit and is not visible from the main traffic street, but fronts on <br />the parking lot for the building. Therefore, the Planner felt the request <br />was a reasonable one and recommended approval of the exemption. <br />Jon Alexander, Kaposia, indicated that the business moved to this location <br />a few months ago. He indicated that the sign reflects the corporate logo <br />
