MINUTES EXEMPTION FROM ARCHITEC- TURAL GUIDELINES - 223 LITTLE CANADA ROAD- KAPOSIA MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING PLANNING COMMISSION LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA AUGUST 14, 2014 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 14th day of August, 2014 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Chair Tom Fischer called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the Planning Commission were present at roll call: PLANNING COMMISSION: ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Tom Fischer Mr. Scott Barraclough Mr. Tom Duray Mr. Steve Ledin Ms. Jennifer Maleitzke Ms. Heidi Murphy Mr. Nick Schwalbach Mr. Steve Grittman, City Planner Mr. Kevin Helander, Cable TV Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk The July 10, 2014 Planning Commission meeting minutes were approved as submitted. The City Planner reported that Kaposia, a tenant of the London Square office complex at 223 Little Canada Road, has applied for an Exemption to the Architectural Guidelines related to the prohibition against white background signs. The purpose of this provision is to limit the impact of sign glare to public streets and neighboring properties. The Planner stated that the Architectural Guidelines call for signs to be reversed out - light letters with dark backgrounds. He noted that the sign proposed is not internally lit and is not visible from the main traffic street, but fronts on the parking lot for the building. Therefore, the Planner felt the request was a reasonable one and recommended approval of the exemption. Jon Alexander, Kaposia, indicated that the business moved to this location a few months ago.
