MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 18, 2014 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014-8-153 — APPROVING THE EXEMPTION <br />FROM ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINES TO PERMIT AN <br />ALTERNATIVE SIGN DISPLAY AS WELL AS THE MASTER SIGN <br />PLAN FOR 223 LITTLE CANADA ROAD, KAPOSIA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ARCHITEC- Blesener opened the Public Review on the application for an Architectural <br />TURAL Review for development of a medical office building at 2250 Rice Street, <br />REVIEW — Davis Group. Both the City Planner and the Planning Commission have <br />2250 RICE recommended approval subject to compliance with the recommendations <br />STREET — of the City Planner as outlined in his August 7, 2014 report. <br />DAVIS <br />GROUP The City Planner reported that the Davis Group has requested <br />Architectural Review to construct an 8,500 square foot medical building <br />on the property at 2250 Rice Street. I -Ie reviewed the building plan noting <br />that the finish materials of brick, accent face brick, metal, and glass <br />meeting the City's Architectural Guidelines. The Planner recommended <br />approval subject to the conditions outlined in his report. <br />Mark David, Davis Group, indicated that they are excited about <br />developing a medical building in Little Canada. He noted that the <br />building proposed complies with the Zoning Code. <br />Blesener noted that the City held this property for a period of time in order <br />to get the right development at this entry point into Little Canada. <br />Pat Giordana, architect for the project, described the exterior in detail, <br />noting that brick, glass, and accent metal panels are being used. He noted <br />that the front roof line provides a focal point as well as screening for <br />mechanical systems. The building was also designed to focus toward Rice <br />Street and Highway 36. Giordana suggested that this will likely be a <br />single -tenant building. <br />Blesener commented on the location of the trash bins, and suggested that it <br />was likely the best spot given the shape of the property and the <br />surrounding development. Giordana noted that trash from this building <br />will be primarily paper products and indicated that the location allows for <br />good screening of the trash bins as well as easy access for pick-up. <br />3 <br />
