MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 10, 2014
installed in 1998 as part of the Historical Society addition, and the
remaining three units (in the original part of the building) were replaced in
1996. It was noted that a separate air conditioning unit is also proposed
for the Cable TV room. hl discussing these improvements, the consensus
was to replace the three furnace units and AC units in the 1991 building
addition, as well as install an AC unit for the Cable TV room. The
furnaces and AC units in the basement and serving the Historical Society
will not be replaced at this time with the goal to get as much life from
them as possible given their replacement will not result in any significant
efficiency increases.
The Administrator reviewed the proposed Plumbing improvements which
are estimated at $9,950. The consensus was to not replace the six lavatory
faucets, but to proceed with other listed improvements. It was also
recommended that an estimate be obtained for relocation of the existing
drinking fountain.
Electrical improvements are estimated at $57,800 with the Administrator
noting that most of these improvements are cable related in addition to
replacing lighting with LED lights. Reducing the number of mechanical
units should lower this number.
The Administrator then reviewed the estimate of $3,900 for removal and
replacement of existing acoustical ceiling tile. The Administrator
indicated that in discussing this improvement with City staff, the
consensus was to first determine whether replacement tiles were available
before proceeding with complete replacement. Council agreed.
Next reviewed was the work item involving removal of interwall finishes
and replacement with ledgestone at the Council backdrop and trophy case
wall. Preliminary estimated cost is $18,800. With regard to the
conversion of the trophy case to a media center, the City Clerk requested
that City staff meet with the architect's designer on a media center that
will be functional for the City's needs. The Council agreed and the
Construction Manager indicated that he would set up a meeting. It was
noted that a 48" TV is proposed as part of the media center, and the
feeling was that this may be too small. This will be discussed with the
designer as part of the configuration of this media center. The Council
then reviewed the Council backdrop, and the consensus was that the City's
logo should be a part of that backdrop. The Council requested that the
Architect put together some options for the Council's review.
The next item discussed was for removal and replacement of carpet and
base at a preliminary estimate of $38,900. The Administrator noted that
carpet replacement would occur in all areas of the City Center, except for
2
