MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 10, 2014
Boss asked if any thought had been given to installing a bench off the
front walk area. The Administrator indicated that this would make snow
removal more difficult.
The Administrator noted that staff suggested some sort of signage,
possibly on the windows near the front door, listing the City Center
address and business hours. The Construction Manager indicated that he
would obtain pricing.
There was discussion about the timing of final decision on project
elements and when construction would begin. The Construction Manager
indicated that once project drawings are redone and bids obtained, it may
be the middle of October that this information is presented to the Council
for final decisions. It was noted that disruptions to the City Center would
need to be minimized until after the November 4th election as the City
Center serves as a voting precinct.
The Cable TV Producer indicated that she is working with CTV for
pricing on upgrades to the cable system, and estimated those improvement
would be in the $150,000 to $180,000 range. The Producer noted that in
addition to upgrades to the cable system, there will be upgrades to the
presentation equipment in both the Council Chambers and Conference
Room. The Administrator reported that the need for a smart board was
discussed by staff, and it was felt one was not needed. Montour asked
about the addition of monitors on the Council table. The Producer
indicated that she is pricing a larger monitor that would fact the City
Council, and it was thought that this might negate the need for table
monitors. The Administrator indicated that pricing is being obtained for
hanging microphones over the audience area in the Council Chambers.
The Producer was also pricing assisted listening devices. Keis asked
about additional plug -ins or USB connections at the Council table. The
Producer will obtain quotes. Keis asked about new microphones at the
Council table. The Producer indicated that she would price out goose-
neck microphones.
Blesener suggested that a wall be added to the entry area of the City
Center to create a storage area for snow shovels, etc. The Construction
Manager indicated that he would obtain that pricing.
The City Administrator also indicated that pricing should be obtained for
automatic door openers for the City Center front doors.
The Cable Producer pointed out that the building diagrams did not include
the full Historical Society addition.
5
