SECTION 10 - OVERTIME & COMPENSATORY TIME <br />City Administrator, Park & Recreation Director. Public Works Su erintendent Buildin Official <br />and Finance Director - These employees are paid on an annual salary basis, therefore, exempt <br />from both overtime and compensatory time requirements. This handbook and this provision do <br />not apply to exempt employees hired after July 12, 1995. <br />All Other Regular Employees - All such employees shall be entitled to pay at the rate of time and <br />one-half for all hours worked in excess of eight (8) hours per work day. M -stated -in `'ern <br />Leaves With Pay, sick -4 e 'en -do net count toward Compensatory Time (Comp Time) <br />and Paid Time Off (PTO) cannot be combined with "hours worked" in determining eligibility for <br />overtime pay and/or compensatory time. In lieu of overtime pay, the employee may elect <br />compensatory time off at the rate of one and one-half hour compensatory time for each hour <br />worked in excess of eight (8) hours per work day. Again, sick 1 ve and -vacation cannot be <br />.. e neratc overtime-er-compensatory time: Employees are <br />required to have the prior approval of their supervisor in order to work overtime. <br />In the case of an employee who requests to work less than their normal 8 -hour work schedule on <br />a given day due to personal needs, and upon approval by the City Administrator, that employee <br />may he allowed to make up the time during the sante 40 -hour work week (Wednesday through <br />Tuesday) at straight time. Example, employee works 7 '/2 hours on Monday, can make up the <br />half hour the next day, thus working 8 1/2 hours on Tuesday. This 8 '/2 hours is paid at straight <br />time and overtime or comp time would not be generated. If the time cannot he made up during <br />the same work week, the employee will be required to use vacation PTO and/or comp time to <br />make up their time. <br />Use of compensatory time shall in all cases be subject to the needs of municipal service and prior <br />approval of the employee's supervisor. Each supervisor shall be responsible for providing the <br />City Administrator with an accurate accounting of all such hours worked by an employee. <br />11 shall be the duty of the City Administrator to obtain from supervisors and to maintain on tile <br />accurate records for all employees, showing the amount of compensatory time accrued and used <br />by each City employee. It shall be the duty of the employee to provide an accurate accounting of <br />compensatory time during each pay period. <br />Compensatory time may he accrued to a maximum of forty (40) hours. Accrual of Comp Time <br />in excess of forty (40) hours must be approved by the City Administrator. <br />Temporary or Seasonal Employees - AU such employees shall be entitled to pay at the rate of <br />time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours per work week. Parks <br />seasonal workers are paid a shift differential for any hours worked outside the regular workday. <br />The regular workday is Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays, holidays <br />and weekday hours before 6 a.m. or after 5 p.m. are defined as other than the normal workday. <br />2 <br />
