MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 22, 2007
CAPITOL The Administrator indicated given the pending expansion of St. Jude
VIEW Medical, future redevelopment of the former Capitol View site may occur
under the right circumstances within the next 3 to 5 years. St. Jude may
be interested in the site depending on what happens with the company in
the next few years. However, their response to date is they are not
interested at this time.
Keis suggested that one option for use of LGA dollars might be to
establish a fund to purchase redevelopment properties.
2966 ARCADE The City Administrator noted that 2966 Arcade Street has been a code
STREET enforcement problem for the City the past few years. It has also generated
some interest from a redevelopment standpoint. The Administrator
suggested that if problems at the site are not resolved on their own, the
City may want to see what role it can play in cleaning up this property.
This site may also be eligible for a TIF district.
LITTLE The City Administrator reported that Josh Maleitzke was in last week
CANADA asking about the sale of the back 75 feet of the Maleitzke Little Canada
ROAD - Road property to Poolside. The Administrator indicated that this would
MALEITZKE narrow the property too much so that a townhome development with a
PROPERTY rear access road would not be feasible. The Administrator also reported
that Maleitzke indicated that Tom Cossack is asking $500,000 for his
property, which Maleitzke felt was too much. However, he indicated that
he would like the same per square foot price for his land.
DRYWALL The Administrator reported that Drywall Supply was asking about
SUPPLY leasing a portion of the former Knox building to Weyerhauser. The
Administrator informed him that this may require a PUD Amendment, and
also informed him that the City would like the property cleaned up from a
maintenance standpoint.
PUBLIC Given that the soil borings on the Valor site show that redevelopment of
WORKS this property was not feasible for a Public Works Garage, the City
GARAGE Administrator suggested alternative sites. These include vacant parcels
SITE on Spruce Street and Country Drive, as well as the Schrier property on
South Owasso Blvd. Other potential sites include the City-owned
property on Twin Lake Blvd. and the Huot property on Little Canada
Road and );dgerton Street. The consensus of the Council was to not
pursue either the Twin Lake Blvd. or the Huot property for a Public Works
Garage.
