From: jj.stormlii)ccncast. net
To: cou eiWei .1ittle-canada.mn.us
Subject: 2526 Rice Street
Date: Mon, 3 Nov 2014 11:53:47 -0600
Please no more tobacco shops in Little Canada.
After reading the minutes of the October 22 meeting, I knew I needed to express my concern over this proposal
for a tobacco shop at the above address.
1 have learned that Mr. Duray owns the space in question and is also on the Planning Commission for the City
of Little Canada. Does the issue of conflict of interest enter into your minds? Being a business man he of
course wants the income from his empty store front, Does he really care about the idea of another tobacco shop
in our neighborhood? With more and more people not smoking and more and more trying to quit—why would
we want more tobacco shops in our very small community. As for the issue of a convenience store—let's face
it—we have many other options for these items within blocks of this store front. I trust that the Council can
see that this is a mask for just another tobacco shop. Please make the correct decision for all the residents of
Little Canada and not for just one business owner.
If this is what type of business Mr. Duray wants in Little Canada, as a Planning Commission member—I
question if he has the hest interests of the residents of Little Canada in mind, or just simply looking to rent out
his store fronts. I would like to know who appointed him to this commission? Can you let ane know who else is
on the planning commission?
Thank you for listening to my concerns.
Jean D.
