MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 22, 2007
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2007-8-208 -AMENDING THE CITY'S
ASSESSMENT POLICYAS PROPOSED BY THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Allan.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
CROSSWALKS The Public Works Superintendent reviewed his report dated August 13,
2007 relative to the painting of crosswalks. The Superintendent reported
that the number of City crosswalks has now grown to 21. In the past
Public Works staff has painted these crosswalks with latex paint. He
noted that the paint lasts for only a year or less. In researching different
methods for marking crosswalks in hopes of finding a longer lasting
method at a reasonable price, the Superintendent felt the best solution was
marking crosswalks with epoxy paint.
The Superintendent reported that he has discussed the use of epoxy paint
with the County Public Works Department, and they have indicated that
epoxy painted markings last 5 to 7 years on County roads. The County
also highly recommended Century Fence for this work The
Superintendent reported that he obtained three quotes for the work, with
Century Fence being slightly higher than the low quote for the painting
portion of the work. The company submitting the low quote does not
remove the existing crosswalk paint. It is the recommendation of the
Cowrty as well as the two other bidders, that old paint be removed prior to
the new paint being applied. The Superintendent reported that based on
the recommendation from the County, it is his recommendation to award
the work to Century Fence.
McGraw also pointed out that contracting this work will free up Public
Works employees for other things.
Ms. Allan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2007-8-209 -AWARDING THE Q UOTE OF
CENTURY FENCE FOR CROSSWALK PAINTING AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McCn~aw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
