Hanson
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Keis & Members of City Council
FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: March 11, 2015
RE: Public Works Facility Budget Follow Up
I received some more numbers from Roseville IT regarding the data cabling and security
budgets.
Data Cabling and Connection Fees
Along with the $5,277 for the low voltage work there will also be $2,362 for a network
switch and $779 for a 2200 VA UPS power supply (battery backup power for the switch).
That leaves a total cost of $8,418 for data cabling and connection fees. The budget was
$10,000 so it appears the actual cost will end up $1,582 below the budget.
Security System
The card access controls system is $11,600 as was mentioned in the first memo. There is
also a fee of $686 for Roseville for the license recovery for the server partition for the
card access control.
The remaining portion of the security budget is for cameras. Cabling has been run to five
outdoor points of the building to get coverage of the entire perimeter (one at each corner
and one on the central west wall near the maintenance bays). Cabling has also been run to
the front entryway for a camera to monitor the main door. Each outdoor camera has a
cost of $1,200 plus $354 for a camera license. Each indoor camera has a cost of $600
plus the same $354 camera license fee.
The optimal setup of five outdoor cameras and one indoor camera would cost $8,724.
That would yield a total security system cost of:
4
