MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />APRIL 2, 2015 <br />GERVAIS The Director reported that the Gervais Mill Park fishing piers and bridges <br />MILL were originally constructed by the Watershed District as part of their ponding <br />FISHING projects in this park. The wood on the fishing piers has deteriorated <br />PIERS and is currently being replaced. This expenditure was provided for in the <br />2015 Capital Improvement Budget. The Director indicated that the bridge <br />decking is also declining, and the cost of this replacement will be added to <br />the 2016 Capital Improvement Budget. He noted that the steel bridge <br />supports are in good shape. <br />Maida indicated that the car stops in the Gervais Mill parking lot off Noel <br />Drive are damaged. There are about 6 or 7 and only 1 is in good shape. The <br />Director indicated that he would take a look at these and have them replaced. <br />EAGLE Sullivan suggested that the City put together a list of potential Eagle Scout <br />SCOUT projects in the event that the City is approached in this regard. The Director <br />PROJECTS noted that the City has been the recipient of these projects in the past. At <br />times the Eagle Scout may have a project in mind, and sometimes they are <br />looking for suggestions from the City. The Director indicated that he would <br />put together such a list. <br />WORKOUT The Director reported that Anytime Fitness approached the City about <br />IN THE conducting free workouts in the park. The Director noted that these workouts <br />PARK will be held each Saturday in May at Pioneer Park (Desoto Street pavilion) <br />from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. <br />BUS TRIP The Director indicated that the Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring <br />TO TWINS a bus trip to the MN Twins game on Tuesday, May 5th, for a 7 p.m. game. <br />GAME Those interested can contact Don Bowman at 651-208-3909. The cost is $29 <br />per ticket. <br />AARP The Director reported that AARP Driver Safety Classes will be held this <br />DRIVER spring at City Hall. Anyone interested can contact the City Center at <br />SAFETY 651-766-4029 or visit the City's web site at www.ci.little-canada.mn.us. <br />CLASSES <br />CITY-WIDE The Director reported that the Canadian Days Committee has opted to not <br />GARAGE sponsor the City-wide garage sale. City staff will be sponsoring the event. <br />SALE This year the sale will be a one -day sale on Saturday, May 16°1.
