MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />APRIL 2, 2015 <br />CANADIAN Vang noted previous parking -related requests by the Canadian Days <br />DAYS Committee relative to he annual Canadian Days Celebration. The Director <br />reported that he has not had any additional requests from the Committee at <br />this time. <br />CENTERVILLE The Director reported that the improvement of Centerville Road will <br />ROAD commence this summer. That improvement will include a sidewalk on the <br />IMPROVEMENT east side of the street extending from Eli Road to Allen Avenue. The <br />Director noted that the current pavement is not centered in the right-of-way. <br />The improvement will include moving the road further to the west to <br />accommodate the sidewalk improvement. <br />The Director reported that as part of the project, the City is required to add <br />rain water gardens along the street. The City Engineer is recommending a <br />rain -water garden in the wooded area adjacent to Pitrina Park. The Director <br />indicated that he did not want to see the entire woods eliminated and will <br />work with the Engineer on that issue. Once a final plan is developed, the <br />Director stated that he would bring it to the Commission for a review. <br />The Commission indicated that they would look at this area as part of its <br />spring park tour. <br />SUMMER The Director reported that the Recreation Department is still taking late <br />ACTIVITIES registrations for summer baseball. Registrations for t -ball, softball, etc. <br />REGISTRATIONS are currently being taken. Registrations are also being taken for Archery <br />Lessons and Firearm Safety Classes. <br />MARKET The Director indicated that the next Market Place Morning Talks is <br />PLACE scheduled at the bingo hall on Wednesday, April 8th, on Diabetic Foot Care. <br />MORNING The session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. <br />TALKS <br />WATER The Director reported that the Watershed District is hosting its annual <br />FEST Water Fest on Saturday, May 30th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lake Phalen <br />Park in St. Paul. <br />NOEL Maida asked the status of the sidewalk on Noel Drive extending from <br />DRIVE Little Canada Road to Gervais Mill Park. The Director indicated that he <br />SIDEWALK has not heard the status of the sidewalk. The Director noted that the retaining <br />wall needs to be completed and earlier discussions was to run the sidewalk on <br />top of the wall. The Director stated that he did not support this concept and <br />felt that people would not use a sidewalk in that location, preferring to be at <br />5 <br />
