MINUTES
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
APRIL 2, 2015
ACTIVE
LIVING
RAMSEY
COMMUNITIES
& THE
TROUTBROOK
TRAIL
ADJOURN
street level. The Director indicated that he would find out the status of the
sidewalk, and reopen the discussion relative to the sidewalk location.
The consensus of the Commission was that the sidewalk needed to be at
street level, and it was pointed out that this recommendation was made by the
Commission earlier.
Sanders reported that he attended a meeting of Active Living Ramsey
Communities, and indicated that there was discussion about Ramsey County
doing a bikeway and pedestrian trail plan for the County. Sanders
indicated that if anyone is interested in attending these meetings, they are
open to the public. For more information, Commissioners can go to the
web site. Sanders stated that he believed the group meets once per month.
Sanders noted that there was discussion about the Troutbrook Trail at the
meeting he attended. Sanders provided an overview of the Troutbrook Trail.
He noted that given this is a regional trail, the County is coordinating its
completion with the Metropolitan Council. He noted that there are pieces of
the trail completed in Little Canada. When completed, the trail will extend
from the Mississippi River through St. Paul, Maplewood, Little Canada,
Vadnais Heights and across 694. Sanders pointed out that at one time the
plan was to follow portions of the railroad rights-of-way, but the railroad will
not cooperate in that regard. Portions will be on the St. Paul Water
Department rights-of-way.
The Commission indicated that review of the Troutbrook Trail location
through Little Canada will be on the spring park tour. The Director indicated
that there will likely be a park tour segment added before the June
Commission meeting as well.
Fahey moved the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Sullivan
Motion carried 6 — 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
Respectfully submed,
lti
Ka by Glan
City Clerk
6
