MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 11, 2007
CUP FOR Mayor Blesener noted that the Council tabled action on the Conditional
GARAGE - Use Permit fora 1,500 square foot garage for 2988 Edgerton Street, Roy
2988 French, at its last meeting after two votes for approval of the CUP failed
EDGERTON due to lack of a majority. Blesener noted that the matter should now be
STREET - brought back to the table for consideration this evening.
FRENCH
McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2007-7-162 -REMOVING CONSIDERATION OF
THE ROY FRENCH CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT REQUEST FOR
1,500 SQUARE FOOT GARAGE, 2988 EDGERTONSTREET, FROM
TABLE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Montour.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Roy French informed the Council that he obtained prices for relocating his
driveway to the north side of his property. This would require removal of
the existing concrete driveway, relandscaping, and relocation of a gas line.
The cost of this work is approximately $5,100. French indicated that the
driveway as he has proposed has only a few additional feet of surface from
what would exist if the driveway were moved to the north side of his lot.
Keis indicated that while the proposal to cross the front yard with the
driveway is not something he would do, there is nothing in the City's
Codes that prohibits a curved driveway. Driveway design was an
individual's choice.
Blesener noted that removal of the existing concrete to the point where the
new driveway would cross the front yard would lessen the amount of
paved surface on the property. He also noted that the Code limits parking
to the driveway area leading directly into the garage.
French stated that while he understands the concerns with his driveway
design, he pointed out that Edgerton Street is one of the oldest developed
areas in the City. There are a multitude of driveway designs along
Edgerton. He also noted that people park on driveway areas in front
yards, whether those driveways lead directly into the garage or not.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2007-7-I63 - APPROVING A CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT FOR A DETACHED GARAGE CONSISTING OF 1,500
