Little Canada Road. The property had been granted a CUP for
commercial recreation previously to allow outdoor recreation activities as an
establishment with alcohol service. The previous permit required a line of spruce trees
along the westerly boundary, and limited outdoor activities to volleyball and boot hockey
on certain nights.
The applicants wish to broaden their opportunities due to a change in the way their
activities occur, and to seek the ability to allow outdoor alcohol consumption in
connection with the events. In addition, they are proposing to replant one of the trees in
the screening area which has not survived.
To accomplish this, the applicants are required to enclose the area from the indoor bar
service area and the entire facility where alcohol can be consumed. The purpose of this
rule, under state liquor regulations, is to ensure that customers ca not enter the facility
in any way except through the bar area, and that they are not able to exit or enter
between the parking lot and the outdoor service area.
Outdoor commercial recreation. With regard to the range of activities in the outdoor
area, the applicants propose to expand the types of leagues to include boot hockey,
broomball, bean bag toss, volleyball, horseshoes, body ball and bocce ball. The
applicants suggest that they will have league play on a variety of weeknights, but state
that they do not expect to be active every night of the week — although they wish to
reserve that opportunity. They also are seeking the ability to conduct tournaments on
weekends up to 6 weekends per year.
