MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 22, 2015
Montour asked if the run off into the grassy area has gotten better since the
parking lot was paved. Flannagan reported that it has gotten worse.
Alicia Davis, Fleur Royale, indicated that her concern is with the noise
that is generated from Gordies'. She was concerned that with liquor
consumption outside that noise would get worse. Davis felt that when the
bar closes, an employee should be outside making sure people got into
their vehicles and left quietly. Davis pointed out that Fleur Royale is very
close to the bar, and felt that if it got quiet by 10 p.m. that would be
acceptable. She indicated that she should not have to close her windows
during the summer months because of the noise coming from Gordies'.
Jim Gadbois, Fleur Royale, stated that he sits on his patio and enjoys
watching the people in the outdoor recreation area. Gadbois stated that
when he wants quiet, he just goes in and shuts his window or shades.
Susan LaNasa, Fleur Royale, stated that she likes Gordies' and feels the
outdoor recreation was O.K. She noted, however, that there is a lot of
noise and swearing and people urinating outside because they do not want
to go into the building to use the bathrooms. LaNasa was concerned about
the expansion of the outdoor recreation along with the outdoor liquor
consumption. LaNasa stated that she would like to keep her windows
open in the summer.
Steve Steiner, Fleur Royale, stated that he lives on the other side of the
building from Gordies'. He noticed, however, that the noise got worse
with the addition of the outdoor patio area. Steiner was concerned about
expanding the outdoor recreation and the increase in both noise and traffic.
Steiner agreed that Fleur Royale residents should be able to have their
windows open during the summer.
Gary Hood, Fleur Royale, stated that he looks at Gordies' shed. He
indicated that while Cossack indicated that the poly fence would not be
seen from the street, he would be able to see it from his home. Hood
indicated that 80% of the time the outdoor recreation is fine, but 20% of
the time it is not. Hood was concerned with the increase in the number of
days and the outdoor consumption of alcohol. Hood also suggested that if
Gordies' is not doing broom ball anymore as Kim Cossack indicated, that
they should take the hockey rink down,
Pat Kannit, Fleur Royale, commented on the noise levels from Gordies'
and was concerned that the increase in activities would increase the noise.
She suggested that if Gordies' is not going to have boot hockey and
broomball, that those activities be removed from the CUP. Kannet also '
expressed concern about the outdoor storage mess on the property.
7
