MINUTES <br />TRAIL <br />DEDICATION - <br />SENIOR <br />HOUSING — <br />HEARTH <br />DEVELOPMENT <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />MAY7,2015 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & <br />Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota, was held on <br />the 7th day of May, 2015, in the Council Chambers of the City Center <br />located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said city. <br />Chair Kong Vang called the meeting to order at 6:44 p.m. and the following <br />members of the commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />Mr. Kong Vang <br />Ms. Sharen Darling <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Tom Maida <br />Mr. Dave Miller <br />Ms. Patti Sullivan <br />Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Rec Dir. <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk <br />The Commission unanimously approved the minutes of the April 2, 2015 <br />meeting. <br />Greg Johnson, Hearth Development, appeared before the Commission and <br />described the 120 -unit senior housing development they are proposing for <br />the area generally at the southeast intersection of Rice Street and Country <br />Drive. Johnson described the trail easement they are proposing to <br />dedicate to the City that would run between the proposed building and <br />Black Tern Pond. Johnson indicated that the goal would be that this <br />easement would adjoin to the existing path located south of the senior <br />development. Johnson noted that he is proposing a mulch/wood chip path, <br />keeping the path eco -friendly. Johnson also indicated that Hearth <br />Development is flexible in this proposal if the Park Commission has some <br />suggestions. <br />Sanders asked if Johnson was proposing the dedication of a 15 -foot wide <br />trail easement. Johnson indicated that there is an existing sanitary sewer <br />easement in this same general area and he would like to piggy -back the two <br />easements, if possible. It was pointed out that this could be possible to <br />overlap the easements, but a separate trail easement will need to be <br />dedicated. <br />Sanders indicated that this is a beautiful site and the trail easement will <br />provide a good trail connection for the City.
