MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MAY7,2015 <br />MORNING <br />TALKS <br />be Container Gardening. The session is at the Market Place Bingo Hall from <br />9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. <br />MAPLEWOOD'S The Director reported that Maplewood Parks & Recreation will be hosting <br />ARBOR DAY an event on Saturday, May 16th, entitled Arbor Day History Mystery. <br />EVENT Anyone interested in attending should meet at Keller Regional Park at the <br />Golfview Picnic Shelter at 11:30 a.m. <br />PIONEER The Director reported that the Corrections Crew did some work today <br />PARK WORK cleaning the ditch that borders the Pitrina Park Townhome complex as well <br />as picked up pine cones the in the pine tree areas. The Director indicated <br />that this crew may be used for the buckthorn removal work and some <br />clearing in the Spooner Park forested area. <br />FARMERS The Director reported that the Farmers Market will be held on Monday's <br />MARKET beginning June 23rd. The first two Mondays, the Market will be in the Saxon <br />Lanes parking lot and the remaining Mondays will be held in the Market <br />Place Shopping Center/Hardware Hank's parking lot. The City is in the <br />process of having its PUD Permit amended to add the new location. The <br />Director reported that there is a private party that sells produce from the <br />Market Place Shopping Center parking lot, but does not sell on Monday's. <br />Therefore, there will not be a conflict with the Farmers Market move to this <br />location. <br />EXERCISE Sullivan reported that she attended the exercise program in Pioneer Park <br />PROGRAM last Saturday and it was well received and well run. She felt it was a <br />IN THE fun and great offering. <br />PARK <br />VETERANS The Commission discussed the need for a joint meeting with the Veterans <br />MEMORIAL Memorial Committee to discuss the long-term vision for the entire park area. <br />The Director indicated that he would contact the Committee Chair to <br />determine whether a joint meeting should occur before the next Veterans <br />Committee meeting or the next Commission meeting. <br />The Director reported that when the Veterans Memorial Committee was first <br />formed, Dan Slain was a member representing the Parks Commission on that <br />Committee. He asked if any of the Commission members were interested in <br />serving in that roll. This will be discussed at the June meeting. <br />8 <br />
