The Chief began by reporting the recent retirement of
Dan Leibel. He indicated that there are no announced retirements at this
time, but pointed out that there are about 12 individuals with more than 20
years of service.
The Chief noted that 4 new members have been added to the department.
This brings the roster to 33 fire fighters, and noted that the goal is to have
a membership of about 30. Given the potential for a number of future
retirements, the Department wanted to add the 4 fire fighters and get them
trained. They will have completed Fire Fighters Training I and II by June.
Then they will proceed with medical training. The Chief noted that one of
the new fire fighters came from the Maplewood Fire Department and is
fully trained.
The Chief next reviewed 2014 statistical information, noting that in 2014
the Fire Department responded to 240 calls for service. He noted that the
Department received auto aid on 16 occasions and provided auto aid 29
times. The Chief noted that auto aid is important to the Department,
especially in the situation where there is a structure fire during day hours.
