Hanson <br />The second round of Rental Housing Licenses are due to expire shortly and the renewal process <br />will commence very soon. As part of this two-year renewal process, staff is recommending that <br />renewal properties continue to be exempt from the housing inspection requirement. Given the <br />types of corrections that have resulted from these inspections, it is our position that the expense <br />of a re -inspection is not warranted at this time. Any new rental units will be required to have the <br />housing inspection. Staff will re-evaluate this need for the next round of renewals that will occur <br />two years from now. <br />For your information, attached is the renewal letter that will be send to rental housing property <br />owners/managers. <br />Staff recommends ratification of these recommendations as presented. <br />
