Hanson
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Keis & Members of City Council
FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Superintendent
DATE: June 8, 2015
RE: New Public Works Facility Change Orders
There are five outstanding change orders that need to be approved by the City Council.
They are outlined below.
1&2. Action Fence — The plans originally had fence along the north property line. It
was decided that it would make more sense to simply tie into the existing chain
link fence along the north lot line. This resulted in a $500 deduction for fence
material and a $1921 deduction for labor for a total deduction of $2421.
3. North Country Concrete — Because Centerville Road has not been reconstructed
yet the storm sewer on site has to be directed in a different way until the new line
is installed along Centerville. Therefore the concrete curb and gutter was not
installed at the Labore and Centerville driveways. This resulted in a $2125
deduction for now. Once the storm sewer is ready the curb will be installed and
the City will pay at that time for the work.
Staff also decided to put surmountable curb in at a few locations to make plowing
operations easier and less likely to result in broken equipment or damaged curb.
This resulted in an addition of $2680 to the contract. The net result of both of
these changes is an addition of $555 to the contract.
4. Pine Bend Paving — Another function of the temporary storm sewer layout is the
Labore driveway needed to be re -graded to allow water to flow from the
employee parking lot to Labore Road and, ultimately, the Labore Road storm
sewer. Pine Bend Paving also added bituminous curbing to help direct the water.
This work resulted in an additional cost of $786.
