Mayor Blesener welcomed the
PARK - Ryan Industrial Park owners to the meeting. He noted that the City
ZONING currently has a moratorium on the issuance of Conditional Use Permits
CODE for outdoor storage in the I-1 Zoning District in order to give the City
ISSUES time to study zoning issues related to outdoor storage and the I-I Disri•ict.
Blesener noted that the City has had numerous code enforcement issues
related to outdoor storage within Ryan Industrial Park. Blesener stated
that the City has no firm ideas at this point on how to address outdoor
storage other than to ensure that it is an accessory use.
Roger Stanke thanked the Council for meeting with the property owners.
Stanke stated that as a property owner in the park his concern is with the
Council's discussion about making outdoor storage an interim use rather
than a conditional use. Stanke felt the City should have little concern
about what a business stores on the property as long as it is screened from
the public view. Stanke also reported that people do not visit the Park to
conduct business, it is not a destination for customers. Stanke also felt
that the owners in the Park should be more self-policing, and pointed out
that bad tenants put a bad light on all the businesses in the Park.
