MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 19, 2007
BEAM The City Adminisriā€¢ator requested that the Council authorize staff to
AVENUE pursue a joint project with the City of Maplewood to get utilities into
IMPROVEMENT the Beam Avenue/LaBore Road area. He noted that the project would
involve Maplewood bringing sanitary sewer into the area and Little
Canada extending watermain through this area. The extension of sanitary
sewer to the Richie Project will eliminate the need for two or three lift
stations. The Administrator indicated that the first step would be to meet
with two of the Little Canada property owners relative to utility and street
easement acquisition. The Adminisriator reported that if the project
proceeds, it will be a Maplewood project, but will be coordinated with
Little Canada. The consensus of the Council was for staff to proceed with
easement discussions.
COPY The City Administrator reported on the need to replace the City's copy
MACHINE machine and pointed out the recommendation of staff to purchase a Canon
Image Runner in the amount of $15,877.02. Staff is also working with the
City of Roseville to coordinate a document management system through
them, and will be coming back with additional recommendations on
software acquisition.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 2007-12-335 -APPROVING THE PURCHASE
OFA CANON IMAGE RUNNER COPYMACHINE IN THE
AMOUNT OF $15,877.02 AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY STAFF
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The Administrator indicated that this purchase was budgeted for in 2008,
however, is being moved up in order to avoid a price increase after the
f rst of the year.
DEER COUNT The City Clerk reviewed her report dated December 13, 2007 relative to
the City's cost for the County to conduct a deer count. If warranted, the
County would then make a recommendation on and coordinate a deer hunt
to reduce the population. It was noted that some of the factors for
consideration are the fact that sites of at least 20 acres or more are
recommended, public versus private ownership of these sites, and public
opposition to the hunt. The Clerk noted that it appears there is a large
population in the LaBore Road area, but most of this property is under
private ownership. There will likely be property owners who would deny
access to their land for such a hunt.
19
