MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 23, 2007 <br />2930 EDGERTONSTREET SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER AS <br />OUTLINED IN HIS REPORT DATED MAY 3, 2007 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />SPRING Mrs. Johnson expressed her disappointment to the Council over the <br />CLEAN UP discontinuance of Spring Clean-Up Day. Johnson reported that Clean <br />DAY Up Day was very helpful to their large family. Keis noted that each <br />residential property owner in the City can dispose of three bulky items per <br />year as part of the City's organized collection contract. <br />Johnson asked if there were any chance that Clean Up Day would be <br />reinstated. The Council indicated that it would depend on the input that <br />the City receives on this issue. <br />TEXT Mayor Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider the applications <br />AMENDMENT, of Hom Furniture for Text Amendment allowing furniture retail and other <br />CONDITIONAL retail uses compatible with furniture sales in the B-W District, Conditional <br />USE PERMITS - Use Permit for proof of parking, and Conditional Use Permit for a <br />3201 COUNTRY Comprehensive Sign Plan. It was noted that the City Planner and the <br />DRIVE - Planning Commission recommended approval subject to compliance with <br />I3OM the City Planner's report dated Apri19, 2007, and subject to the City <br />FURNITURE Planner's review and approval of individual uses noted in the Hom <br /> Furniture list presented at the Commission meeting. <br />The City Planner reviewed the actions before the Council this evening. <br />Relative to the CUP for proof of parking, the Planner noted that there is <br />more than enough parking on the site to accommodate this use as well as a <br />more intensified use. <br />With regard to the CUP for comprehensive sign plan, the City Planner <br />indicated that the sign plan as presented meets the City Code <br />requirements. He noted that Hom Furniture initially requested a Variance <br />for sign height, but has since withdrawn that request. <br />With regard to the Text Amendment allowing furniture retail and other <br />retail uses compatible with furniture sales in the B-W District, the Planner <br />indicated that the applicant is seeking a text amendment given that the <br />building is much larger than necessary to accommodate the Hom Furniture <br />store. The additional retail space would then be rented by Hom Furniture <br />to businesses that are compatible with furniture sales. The Planner noted <br />
