MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECRF,ATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />May 3, 2007 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission <br />of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 3'~ day of May, 2007 in the Council <br />Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City. <br />Chair Tony Mans called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the <br />Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Tony Mans, Chair <br />Ms. Linda Fahey <br />Mr. Jim Fleischhackcr <br />Ms. Clara Neis <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />Ms. Ruth Steinwall <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Pam Davis, Vice-Chair <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelair, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />TOUR OF The Commission met prior to the regular meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. to tour Pioneer Park and <br />PARKS the St. Jude's Medical complex. <br />MINUTES Fahey recommended that the minutes from the meeting held on Apri15, 2007 be approved as <br />submitted. <br />Motion seconded by Steinwall. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />PARK The Director presented the Commission with a copy of a recent park dedication fee survey <br />CHARGE that was conducted by Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. Little Canada's park charge appeared as <br />one of the lowest of the 52 cities that responded to the survey. The Director encouraged the <br />Commission to review the survey and stated that City staff will be bringing a recommendation <br />on this matter to the Commission at a future meeting. <br />ICE CREAM Mans asked the Commission their opinion about moving the Ice Cream Social to earlier in the <br />SOCIAL year to coincide with some t-ball/pop-up games. In the past, the social has been held on the <br />Thursday before Canadian Days due to the ride wristband night being held that evening. <br />However, the past few years have had a poor turnout due to the discontinuation of the wristband <br />event. Neis suggested holding the event during Canadian Days and having them advertise it in <br />their literature. The Director felt that the Canadian Days Committee would not be in favor of <br />that option due to the conflict with their activities.
