MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
June 7, 2007
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission
of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 7°i day of June, 2007 in the Council
Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road East in said City.
Chair Tony Mans called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following members of the
Commission were present:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Tony Mans, Chair
Ms. Pam Davis, Vice-Chair
Ms. Linda Fahey
Mr. Jim Fleischhacker
Ms. Clara Neis
Mr. Kevin Steinert
Ms. Ruth Steinwall
ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Bill Sanders, Parks Consultant
Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary
TOUR OF The Commission met prior to the regular meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m, to tour the potential
ARKS skateboard park site at the Old Fire Hall, the Spooner Park erosion repair, and the Spooner Park
tennis courts.
MINUTES Neis recommended that the minutes from the meeting held on May 3, 2007 be approved as
submitted.
Motion seconded by Fleischhacker.
Motion carried 7- 0.
PARK Mans stated that city staff has recommended that the residential park dedication fee be increased
CHARGE from $625 to $2,600. Multi-family homes would also see an increase from $312.50/unit to
$1,950/unit. According to a recent survey that was conducted by Hoisington Koegler Group,
Inc., the $2,600 figure is the average of the 56 cities that returned surveys.
The Commission felt that the recommended increase was fair, but they didn't like the huge jump
and felt that in future years, the fee should be reviewed annually along with the park shelter fees
so that this problem would not happen again. They felt that a small annual increase was better
than a huge increase every 10+ years.
