MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 23, 2008
The Council then discussed whether or not to put a limitation on the
number of weatherproof containers and trailers or limit the percentage of
the allowed outdoor storage area in which containers and trailers could be
stored. The City Attorney indicated that the ordinance must contain a
rational basis for how it will control the amount of container and trailer
storage. The consensus of this discussion is that a maximum of four
containers and/or trailers can be pair of a properties outdoor storage area.
It was also agreed that a maximum trailer size of 10 feet by 40 feet would
be allowed.
Frattalone suggested that property owners be given a period of time to get
into compliance before the City starts code enforcement action. Blesener
replied that the City will work with the businesses and allow them some
time to get into compliance.
With regard to Blesener's comments about limiting off-site storage to
major businesses in the City, the City Planner felt that 914.040.G.4. would
address his concerns.
Mr. Blesener introduced adoption of the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2008-4-107 - ADOPTING AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 914, LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT (I-I)
AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY PLANNER AND THE
PLANNING COMMISSION WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:
914.045.A.3. Eliminate I-P District;
9I4.045.A.5. Eliminate this provision entirely;
914.045.A.8. Require annual renewal of the interim use permit;
914.045.G. Ensure that there be no storage of hazardous
materials as recommended by the Deputy Fire
Marshal;
Provide for a maximum of four containers and/or semi-trailers in
outdoor storage area with a maximum trailer size of 10 feet by 40
feet.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (4).
Nays (1) Allan. Resolution declared adopted.
13
