M1NLITF,S
CITY COUNCIL
MARCI~I 23, 2005
"fhe City Administrator felt that County Road B-2 should remain posted as
no parking given the additional traffic that will utilize that street due to the
Unweave the Weave project as well as fact that this street is heavily used
by walkers, runners, and bikers as a route around the lake. The City
Administrator suggested that he would have the Sheriff's Department and
the City Irngineer look at these streets and make a recommendation.
Montour noted that the City has been surveying residents for their opinion
when it has considered posting streets as uo parking. The City
Administrator reported that resident surveys have been done in response to
specific requests for parking restrictions.
L,aValle asked what prompted 131esener's interest in reconsidering the
parking regulations being discussed. L3lesener reported that he has had
four or five complaints about the restrictions. He noted that from the
survey information included in the packets, adjacent cities do not use the
designation of an on sheet trail as criteria for posting a street as no
parking. Resolution declared adopted.
Montour felt that whether or not to post a street as no parking was not a
traffic safety issue, but rather a pedestrian safety issue. Montour felt that
if one side of the street is going to be posted as no parking, property
owners along the street should have input.
Blesener pointed out that the City does not build roads for people to walk
on, brit rather for people to drive on.
