MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
MAY 8, 2008
Planner as outlined in his report dated May 2, 2008, subject to compliance
with all Code requirements, and verification that outdoor storage on the site
does not exceed the 60% maximum.
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
COMPRE- The City Planner presented draft information relative to the City's
HENSIVE Comprehensive Plan update. The first section provides a socio-economic
PLAN profile of the City which identifies who lives in the community. The
Planner noted that when finalized as part of the City's Comp Plan, this
information will be used for transportation planning.
The second section is a draft of proposed goals and policy statements which
have been adapted from the City's current Comp Plan. The Planner noted
that these relate primarily to the City's commercial properties. He noted
that the City has recently spent a significant amount of time on industrial
and residential properties, therefore, the policies and goals for these
properties have been pretty well spelled out. However, not a lot of attention
has been spent on commercial properties. The Planner asked that the
Commission review this information and be prepared to comment at their
June meeting. He also suggested that comments, questions, etc. could be
emailed to him prior to the June meeting.
The third section submitted addresses the land use policies for the City.
The Planner stated that he did not anticipate that there would be significant
land use pattern changes for LitCle Canada, but there are areas that need
some attention.
The final piece of information is the existing land use map on which the
Planner identified some discussion issues. The Planner noted that the Comp
Plan is designed to meet Metropolitan Council requirements, and they have
a specific list of data that must be provided. The Planner pointed out that
updating the Comp Plan is a good time for the community to identify issues
that may need to be addressed.
The Planner again asked the Commission to review this information prior to
the June meeting. He noted that the information will be refined over time
and eventually the Commission will make a recommendation on a draft
Comp Plan update to the City Council. There will likely be a joint meeting
or two with the Commission and the City Council.
ADJOURN Barraclough recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
-8-
