MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 26, 2008
Staff is further recommending that a limit be placed on the type of repair
license. There are currently four businesses within the City that operate
this type of business. With a limit on the "Salvage Vehicle Repair"
license, it is staff's feeling that no limit would be needed on the Major
Auto Repair License.
The City Administrator noted that the City Planner has prepared draft
language which would establish the additional license class.
McGraw felt that the recommendations of the City staff will give the City
better controls. He felt that since there are four businesses of this nature in
the City, that a limit of four Salvage Vehicle Repair licenses should be set.
McGraw also agreed no limit would be needed on Major Auto Repair
Licenses. McGraw felt that this proposal would serve the business
community well, and would not hamper anyone's ability to sell their
business. Blesener and Keis both agreed. It was the consensus of the
Council to proceed with the additional I-1 District amendments as
recommended.
The City Administrator indicated that when notices of the Public Hearing
for the I-1 Amendments are mailed to impacted property owners, a letter
highlighting this additional change will be included.
2008 The Public Works Superintendent reviewed the quotes received for 2008
STREET street sweeping, noting that Allied Blacktop is the low quote at a total of
SWEEPING $204.00 per hour for sweeper rate and dump truck rate. The
Superintendent reported that the quote is a $6 per less than last year's rate.
The Superintendent reported that Allied has done street sweeping for the
City in the past and has done a good job.
The Superintendent reported that this winter the Public Works Department
utilized 100% salt in keeping the street clear, therefore, street sweeping
should take less time. He indicated that the department will monitor the
sweeping operation to ensure it is done efficiently. The Superintendent
recommended award of the Allied Blacktop quote. Sweeping will begin
once the snow melts from curb lines.
Mr. Blesener inhoduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION N0.2008-3-90 -AWARDING THE LOW QUOTE OF
ALLIED BLACKTOP COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $204 PER
HOUR FOR 2008 STREET SWEEPING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (3)
19
