MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 2, 2023 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was convened on the 2nd day of November, 2023 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br /> <br />Chair Howarth called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. and the following members of the Parks <br />& Recreation Commission were present at roll call: <br /> <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION: Abruzzese, DeLong Miller, Horwath, Mui, <br />Schletty, Williams, and Youth Commissioner Churcher (arrived at 6:34 p.m.). <br /> <br />ABSENT: Hipp <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: Parks & Rec/Community Services Director Bryce Shearen and Recreation <br />Coordinator Sierra Hietala. <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Commissioner Schletty made a motion to approve the October 5, 2023 Parks & Recreation <br />Commission minutes as submitted. Commissioner Mui seconded the motion. The motion was <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Churcher arrived. <br /> <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: PIONEER PARK UPDATE <br />The Parks & Rec Director reported that the ribbon cutting was held on October 17th, and it was <br />well attended. He stated that the water feature will have a spring opening and noted that many of <br />the items that were not yet completed at the ribbon cutting have been completed. He stated that <br />he has received positive feedback from the public on the project. <br /> <br />Chair Horwath thanked staff for a great event and agreed that it was well attended. <br /> <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: TOBACCO AND CANNABIS USE IN PARKS AND PARK <br />FACILITIES UPDATE <br />The Parks & Rec Director stated that this item went before the City Council on October 11th and <br />the Council adopted Ordinance 879 prohibiting tobacco and cannabis use in the parks and park <br />facilities. He stated that staff will work on education over the winter with the installation of <br />signage planned for the spring. <br />
