The process bringing <br />72 forward this agreement has involved several meetings and eventually mediation. He reviewed the <br />73 terms included in the proposed agreement including its two-year term. <br />74 <br />75 Mayor Reinert recalled that the city did move away from multi -year contracts with the city's union <br />76 i <br />employees mainly due to the recession and uncertainty that surrounded that period. Now, with sgns <br />77 of recovery, he is comfortable again with two-year contracts. He's confident the city will be moving <br />78 ahead with all the labor contracts soon. <br />79 <br />80 Council Member Kusterman recognized the efforts of Administrator Karlson in achieving a fair <br />81 agreement. <br />82 <br />83 Council Member Rafferty moved to approve the labor agreement as presented. Council Member <br />84 Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />85 <br />86 3B) Consider Appointment of Alex McKenzie, Community Development Intern — <br />87 Administrator Karlson requested council authorization to hire Mr. McKenzie as an intern in the <br />88 Community Development Division. He noted the success of the internship program, with several <br />89 previous individuals moving from interns to planning department positions in other cities. <br />90 <br />2 <br />
