COUNCIL MINUTES April 25, 2016 <br />APPROVED <br />136 <br />137 413) Consider Hiring of Police Officer — Public Safety Director Swenson noted that the number <br />138 of sworn staff for the police department is currently at 26 and the budget calls for 27. Therefore a <br />139 hiring process was conducted and the department is recommending the hiring of Ashley Albindia to <br />140 fill the open position. <br />141 <br />142 Council Member Maher moved to approve the hiring of Ashley Albindia as recommended. Council <br />143 Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />144 <br />145 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />146 <br />147 There was no report from the Public Services Department. <br />148 <br />149 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />150 <br />151 6A) Consider Resolution No. 16-28, Approving Easement Acquisition, Well No. 6 — <br />152 Community Development Director Grochala reviewed his written report outlining a request to <br />153 authorize staff to proceed with the purchase of an easement to provide for drainage and utilities for <br />154 the new Pump House No. 6 project. <br />155 <br />156 Council Member Kusterman moved to approve Resolution No. 16-28 as presented. Council Member <br />157 Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. <br />158 <br />159 613) Consider Resolution No. 1&29, Authorizing Preparation of Transportation Alternatives <br />160 Program Project Application — Community Development Director Grochala reviewed his written <br />161 report requesting authorization to contract with WSB & Associates to prepare a grant application for <br />162 federal funding to assist with construction of a trail project from Lino Lakes Elementary to the I35W <br />163 bridge. <br />164 <br />165 Mayor Reinert remarked that it is wonderful to see plans for a trail to the north end of the city. He <br />166 thinks the investment in preparing a grant application will be a good one in seeking the funding <br />167 needed for this trail project. He noted that he is also looking to city staff to seek grant funds from <br />168 Anoka County that could be used for improvements in the area planned for a park. <br />169 <br />170 <br />171 <br />172 <br />173 <br />174 <br />175 <br />176 <br />177 <br />178 <br />179 <br />180 <br />Council Member Manthey noted that he is well aware of the area that would be served by this trail.
