COUNCIL MINUTES April 25, 2016 <br />DRAFT <br />4 <br /> 136 <br />4B) Consider Hiring of Police Officer – Public Safety Director Swenson noted that the number 137 <br />of sworn staff for the police department is currently at 26 and the budget calls for 27. Therefore a 138 <br />hiring process was conducted and the department is recommending the hiring of Ashley Albindia to 139 <br />fill the open position. 140 <br /> 141 <br />Council Member Maher moved to approve the hiring of Ashley Albindia as recommended. Council 142 <br />Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 143 <br /> 144 <br />PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT 145 <br /> 146 <br />There was no report from the Public Services Department. 147 <br /> 148 <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT 149 <br /> 150 <br />6A) Consider Resolution No. 16-28, Approving Easement Acquisition, Well No. 6 – 151 <br />Community Development Director Grochala reviewed his written report outlining a request to 152 <br />authorize staff to proceed with the purchase of an easement to provide for drainage and utilities for 153 <br />the new Pump House No. 6 project. 154 <br /> 155 <br />Council Member Kusterman moved to approve Resolution No. 16-28 as presented. Council Member 156 <br />Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote. 157 <br /> 158 <br />6B) Consider Resolution No. 16-29, Authorizing Preparation of Transportation Alternatives 159 <br />Program Project Application – Community Development Director Grochala reviewed his written 160 <br />report requesting authorization to contract with WSB & Associates to prepare a grant application for 161 <br />federal funding to assist with construction of a trail project from Lino Lakes Elementary to the I35W 162 <br />bridge. 163 <br /> 164 <br />Mayor Reinert remarked that it is wonderful to see plans for a trail to the north end of the city. He 165 <br />thinks the investment in preparing a grant application will be a good one in seeking the funding 166 <br />needed for this trail project. He noted that he is also looking to city staff to seek grant funds from 167 <br />Anoka County that could be used for improvements in the area planned for a park. 168 <br /> 169 <br />Council Member Manthey noted that he is well aware of the area that would be served by this trail. It 170 <br />would be a great improvement for the city and he is supportive. 171 <br /> 172 <br />Council Member Rafferty moved to approve Resolution No. 16-29 as presented. Council Member 173 <br />Manthey seconded the motion.
