CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Henning, Human Resources Manager <br />MEETING DATE: July 25, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Compensation Plan for Paid On-Call Fire Personnel <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve an amendment to the compensation plan for paid on-call <br />fire personnel. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Effective August 1, 2016 the Minnesota minimum wage will increase from $9.00 to $9.50 per <br />hour. The hourly rate for calls during pre-service training is currently $9.00. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the amendment to the compensation plan for paid on-call fire, which increases the <br />hourly wage for calls during pre-service training to $9.50 to be in compliance with Minnesota <br />wage law. <br /> <br />
