Pecchia <br />October 9, 1995 <br />Youth Resource Officer <br />A Youth Resource Officer will give the police an opportunity to <br />continue to interact with the area youth as they progress from <br />the D.A.R.B. program at the elementary level through high school. <br />In addition to this position benefitting the area youth, this <br />program fits well with the police departaentfs community <br />orientated policing philosophy. <br />The Youth Resource Officer will be basad at the Centennial Jr. <br />and Sr. High Schools. Through working together in the coo*unity <br />with the Centennial School District staff and student body, we <br />believe that our department can have a major impact upon criminal <br />activity and take a proactive stance against violence in our <br />community and school system. <br />The Centennial School District was unable to reach an agreement <br />with the Blaine Police Department, therefore a request wag wade <br />to the Lino Lakes Police Department to provide this service. The <br />Centennial School District will fund approximately $28,400 for <br />this position. This position will be filled with existing <br />personnel. When school is not in session (which is a time of the <br />year when there are more calls for service), this position mill <br />perform the duties of a patrol officer. <br />The Lino Lakes Police Department is requesting that the Lino <br />Lakes City Council enter into negotiations with the Centennial <br />School District to develop an agreement. <br />1. Approve request to enter into negotiations with the <br />Centennial School District for a Youth Resource Officer <br />program. <br />2.
