City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
Monday, December 4, 1995
The December 4, 1995, City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was
called to order at 6:38pm by George Lindy, Chair.
Roll call was taken, members present were George Lindy, Ken
Johnson, Pam Taschuk, Joe Schmidt, Amy Donlin and Sharon Lane.
Also present were Marty Asleson, Park,'Recreation, and Forestry
Coordinator, Barry Bernstein, Recreation Program Supervisor, and
Sandie Wood, Recording Secretary. Betty Piper was absent.
APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER 6, 1995 MINUTES:
Pam Taschuk made a motion to approve the November 6, 1995
minutes. Amy Donlin seconded the motion and the minutes were
approved as written.
OPEN MIKE: -
There was no one present for open mike.
UPDATES AND OLD BUSINESS:
Athletic Complex: Marty explained that he and George met with
the City of Centerville on this issue. Marty has also discussed
the idea with the City of Circle Pines Administrator, Jim
Keinath; and Anoka County Parks Director John VonDeLinde.
Marty attached a map of the suggested Centerville site. He
believes that this whole deal would hinge on the possible use of
the Anoka Country Park area adjacent to the land that would need
to be purchased. Marty said this County Park area from our
accounts has always been classified as Active Recreational Land.
According to Metropolitan Council, 20 percent of all Regional
Park land may be used for "active" types of uses. John
VonDeLinde was surprised at this classification for this area.
John is going to check on this, talk to Metropolitan Council and
get back to Marty. They are also in the process of re -master -
planning this park and feel no obligation from the regional park
standpoint to provide this type of park programming. This should
not be meant to say that he was opposed to the idea of a
cooperative relationship with the City of Lino Lakes to program
this type of activity.
Marty's conversation with Jim Keinath from Circle Pines addressed
the idea and the location. The location seemed to be okay from
his perspective, but Marty thinks there needs to be a lot of
discussion centered around joint agreement language and
cost/revenues.
1
