COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 9, 1995
preparation that went into the contract has produced a good
contract, both in terms of language and the financial package.
The contract will become effective immediately upon approval of
the City Council.
Through closed Council sessions, Mr. Tesch, Ms. Olson of Labor
Relations, and Mr. Schumacher have kept the City Council updated
on the contract process.
Council Member Elliott moved to approve the contract with the
LLMA. Council Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF 1995 ANNUAL APPOINTMENTS, RANDY SCHUMACHER
Mr. Schumacher explained that advertisements for annual
appointments were placed in the non -legal sections of local
newspapers. As of today, we have received a total of eight (8)
applications for the Planning and Zoning Board and two (2)
applications for the Park Board. As directed at the Wednesday
evening work session, last years applicants were contacted to see
if they are still interested this year. Mr. Schumacher
recommended that the annual appointments be discussed at the
January 18, 1995 work session and a date be set for interviewing
each candidate.
Council Member Bergeson said that the matter could be advertised
again, but felt that this should not be "dragged out" any
further.
This matter will be placed on the agenda for the January 18, 1995
Council work session.
OLD BUSINESS
Consideration of a Joint Powers Agreement with White Bear
Township - Mr. Schumacher noted that this matter was discussed at
a Council work session several months ago. White Bear Township
is experiencing rapid commercial and multi -family housing growth
and has asked for assistance through the Joint Powers Agreement.
Lino Lakes has helped White Bear Township in the past and
experienced a good working relationship. This Joint Powers
Agreement is similar to the Joint Powers Agreement that Lino
Lakes had with the City of Lexington.
Council Member Elliott moved to approve the Joint Powers
Agreement with White Bear Township. Council Member'Kuether
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
PAGE 7
