COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 23, 1995
The developer has expressed concern regarding the first
condition. He is anticipating problems with his mortgage company
and banker regarding the financing of improvements in the new
plat. If this lot is included in the final plat the new owner
would be required to sign the final plat document and possibly be
a part of the financing arrangements. Although the purpose in
proposing condition No. 1 was to provide a "clean" legal
description ie. Lot 1, Block 1, approval of this condition could
adversely affect the developer's financing of the utilities.
Council Member Kuether moved to approve the minor subdivision as
submitted with conditions No. 2 and No. 3 only. Council Member
Elliott seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
The developer, Mr. Rocky Goertz was in the audience and asked for
clarification. He noted that the subdivided property will be
financed by a VA mortgage and requiring the lot to be a part of
the plan would cause many problems. It was explained that the
City Council approved the subdivision without the requirement
that the lot be part of the plat.
CONSIDERATION OF HENNEPIN COUNTY TRUCK BIDS, RANDY SCHUMACHER
Mr. Schumacher explained that a one (1) ton utility truck for the
Sewer and Water Department was budgeted for 1995. The City has
bid this vehicle through the Hennepin County Purchasing Division.
Two (2) bids were received by the Hennepin County Purchasing
Division for the one (1) ton truck cab and chassis. The first
bid was from Polar Chevrolet for $16,390.00 and the other bid was
from Iten Chevrolet for $16,587.00. Hennepin County Purchasing
Division awarded the bid to Thane Hawkins/Polar Chevrolet, Inc.
for $16,390.00.
Mr. Schumacher noted that bids are about 10% to 15% higher than
in 1994. He also noted that since these bids are for cab and
chassis only, he will be returning to the City Council with bids
for the utility box and equipment. Those bids are anticipated to
be approximately $11,000.00.
Council Member Elliott moved to approve the purchase of a one (1)
ton truck cab and chassis through the Hennepin County Purchasing
Division from Thane Hawkins/Polar Chevrolet, Inc. for $16,390.00.
Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
Mr. Schumacher was asked if an existing vehicle would be traded
in on the new truck. Mr. Schumacher said no, the Public Works
Superintendent normally places out dated vehicles on the Hennepin
County auction.
PAGE 11
