COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 23, 1995 <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that a new dump truck to replace the <br />1980 dump truck was budgeted in 1995. The City has also bid this <br />vehicle through the Hennepin County Purchasing Division. Two (2) <br />bids were received by the Hennepin County Purchasing Division. <br />The first bid is from Boyer Ford Truck, Inc. for $43,648.00 and <br />the second bid is from Lakeland Ford Truck Sales for $43,241.00. <br />Hennepin County Purchasing Division awarded the bid to Lakeland <br />Ford Truck Sales. These bids are also about 10% to 15% higher <br />than last year. <br />These bids are for cab and chassis only. Bids for the dump box, <br />snow plowing equipment and hydraulic equipment will be brought to <br />the City Council at a later date. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to approve the purchase of a dump <br />truck cab and chassis from Lakeland Ford Truck Sale. Council <br />Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION OF THE YEAR END BUILDING REPORT, PETE KLUEGEL <br />Mr. Kluegel explained that in 1994 building activity in Lino <br />Lakes consisted of 566 total building permits for a valuation <br />of$26,713,028.00. A total of 217 new homes including 20 <br />townhouse units were constructed in 1994. This represents a <br />decrease of 158 new homes from the previous year. The average <br />construction cost of a single family dwelling was $11,253.00. <br />Non-residential building consisted of the commercial construction <br />of the U -DOR building for $168,000.00 which was completed in the <br />Apollo Business Park. In addition, the Minnesota Correctional <br />Facility remodeled and constructed additional projects which <br />totaled $800,000.00. <br />The Building Department has increased the plumbing and heating <br />fees effective January 1, 1995. These fees compare favorably <br />with surrounding communities. Handouts have been prepared for <br />the public to better illustrate code requirements for decks, re - <br />roof projects, guardrails and stairs. Building Department <br />information for the public will be published in the City <br />quarterly newsletter in the coming year. <br />A joint powers agreement with White Bear Township for shared <br />services on an as needed basis has been implemented for 1995. <br />Mr. Kluegel anticipated construction activity in 1995 to equal <br />that which was experienced by the City in 1994. Townhouse demand <br />in Wenzel Farms and single family development in Pheasant Hills <br />Preserve, Fifth and Sixth Additions, Fox Trace, Oaks of Lino, <br />Pine Ridge, Second and Third Additions, Baldwin Lakes Estates, <br />PAGE 12 <br />
