City Council <br />action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible <br />bidder. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Council ordered the improvement for the Centennial Middle School <br />Street and Utility Improvements at the May 13, 1996, Council Meeting. On <br />September 12, 1996, ten sealed bids were received and opened with the <br />following results: <br />Company Bid Amount <br />S. R. Weide, Inc., is currently working for the City on the Fourth Avenue Trunk <br />Utility Project that is near completion. Prior to award of the Fourth Avenue Trunk <br />Utility Project, the City's consulting engineer performed a reference check on S. <br />R. Weiderna, Inc. Based on staffs experience with S. R. Weidema on the Fourth <br />Avenue Trunk Utility Project and previous review of references, S. R. Weidema, <br />Inc., is a reputable contractor capable of performing the required work. <br />Staff is in the process of obtaining right -of -entry agreements from the School <br />District and Mr. Rehbein for the construction of the project.
