Quad Commu y Press
4779 Dl0 AvenUe
Whi ear Lake, MN 55110
To The Editor,
A 44-
*4-1/A
We have never objected to paying taxes. A recent near
catastrophe showed us what excellent services our local tax
dollars bring us. A furnace fire due to a faulty switch set
off our smoke alarm. Soon smoke was billowing through the
house. A few minutes after we called 911 Circle Pines -Lexington
police arrived followed by fire trucks from the Centennial Fire
District.
The fire was put out so promptly and expertly our home
sustained little damage. Firemen used a powerful fan and some
water spray, so our furniture and belongs sustained almost'no
water damage.
One of the policemen phoned our son informing him of the
fire but telling him we were all right. He also reassured
our anxious neighbors. Fire Chief Milo Bennett proved himself
not only thoroughly professional in the way he directed his
well trained men but was also sensitive to our fears. Fire
Marshall Kathy Mischke treated our possessions with the consi-
deration she would have given her own and was friendly, reassuring
and helpful.
How could anyone complain about local taxes that are so
well spent!
// cc:e Lit.;
Grace and Andy Gibas
Circle Pines
Copies to Cities of:
Centerville
Circle Pines
Lexington
ino Lakes
