The Charter <br />Commission rejected this amended amendment in July 2008. <br />Charter Amendments <br />.After the Charter -initiated charter amendment was rejected by the city council in March, and <br />the Charter Commission in July rejected the council -initiated charter amendment, a citizen - <br />initiated petition to amend the Charter was submitted to the Commission on August 12, 2008. <br />This petition resulted in an amendment question being placed on the November 4, 2008 <br />election ballot. The citizens of Lino Lakes by a large margin, 6.529 NO votes to 3.658 YES <br />votes, or 64% to 36%, rejected the amendment. <br />Charter Expenditures <br />The Commission requested and received a budget increase of $5,000 for 2008 to cover any <br />ongoing legal expenses associated with proposed amendments. <br />Five Year Financial Plan <br />Under the Charter, the Five Year Plan requires annual updating. In 2007, the Commission <br />received its first update to the plan since 1996.
