CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL WORK SESSION May 22, 2017
DRAFT
2
The council discussed the importance of reviewing the services and they are happy to get 44
a better price. The council will be discussing the review of other contracts at the next 45
work session. 46
47
3D) Consider Resolution No. 17-48, To Censure Councilmember – Mayor Reinert 48
remarked that he believes all council members understand the instance that brings 49
forward this resolution. He has been struggling with how to respond to the issue and the 50
people who have contacted him. He doesn’t feel comfortable doing nothing. He has 51
spoken with Council Member Maher about this resolution coming forward and they have 52
discussed the meaning of a censure and the reason that he recommends that it be the 53
council’s response. This will allow the council and its individual members to go on 54
record. 55
56
Council Member Manthey noted that the resolution includes language that relates to the 57
City Council’s Code of Conduct and he wonders if that reference would indicate other 58
action down the road. He recommends that the resolution be amended to remove 59
reference to that code. Council Member Rafferty concurred with that recommendation. 60
61
Administrator Karlson said he could remove certain references to the Code of Conduct 62
and the council concurred. 63
64
Council Member Maher said she is in support of an action from the council and wants her 65
colleagues to have the opportunity to act. 66
67
The meeting was adjourned at 6:28 p.m. 68
69
These minutes were considered, corrected and approved at the regular Council meeting held on 70
June 12, 2017. 71
72
73
74
75
Julianne Bartell, City Clerk Jeff Reinert, Mayor 76
77
