NOVEMBER 19, 1975 <br />-3- <br />The next item for discussion was an Informal discussion of the proposed <br />use of the Outpost Buildings that had been presented by Northern Instruments, <br />Inc. They are presently located at 1810 Como Avenue, StPaul and are <br />considering the purchase of the Outpost for their operations. <br />Mr. Jack Randall and-Mr.,Bilt Johnson were present for Northern Instruments. <br />Mr. Karth asked what they intend to do with this Land and buildings? <br />Mr. Randall said they would be using It for tight assembly and since <br />the land is presently zoned commercial they are wondering if this will <br />present any problems with their intended use. <br />Mr. Karth said the only problems they could forsee would be with the <br />Metropolitan Council and the sewage disposal He advised them to talk <br />to Metro as quickly as possible. Mr. Karth asked how many employees <br />they have and expect to have in the near future. <br />Mr. Randall said they would move ten employees in immediately and perhaps <br />another 5 to 10 In the near future. <br />The question of re -zoning came up and the members of the P&Z felt that <br />It would be advisable and that since alt the members of this Board were <br />in agreement it would be wise to act immediatley to re -zone, since there <br />':as a possiblity of the Board changing after the first of the year. <br />'fir. Sheeran` moved to recommend to the Council that re -zoning of this <br />land from Commercial to Light industrial be considered, proving the <br />approval of the Metropolitan Council is obtained and that the necessary <br />proceedures be started immediately in order to complete this re -zoning <br />by the end of 1975. Mr. Gourley seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />The last item for discussion was -`a variance request from Mr. Ernest <br />Apitz to transfer the title of some land to his nephew and wlfr, Mr. <br />and Mrs. Keith Apitz. The :and in question in less than 2# acres and <br />the stated use will be for accees and a garden. <br />The P&Z members said they could see no problem with the variance and <br />did not see that any action was required on the part of the P&Z. <br />Mr. Hill moved to adjourn at 9:15 P.M. Motion seconded by Mr. Sheeran. <br />Aye. <br />
