JT CITY COUNCIL/CHARTER COMMISSION MEETING August 20, 2009 <br /> APPROVED <br /> 1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> 2 MINUTES <br /> 3 SPECIAL JOINT MEETING <br /> 4 WITH THE LINO LAKES CHARTER COMMISSION <br /> 5 <br /> 6 DATE : August 20, 2009 <br /> 7 TIME STARTED : 7:00 p.m. <br /> 8 TIME ENDED : 8:32 p.m. <br /> 9 MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmember Gallup, O'Donnell, <br /> 10 And Reinert <br /> 11 MEMBERS ABSENT : Council Member Stoltz and Mayor Bergeson <br /> 12 CHARTER COMMISSION <br /> 13 MEMBERS PRESENT : Commissioners Dahl, Carlson, Zastrow, <br /> 14 Williams, Drennen, Storberg, Sutherland, <br /> 15 Gunderson, Stockman-Maher, Trehus, <br /> 16 Lyden,Minar and Bretoi (arrived at 8:30) <br /> 17 CHARTER COMMISSION <br /> 18 MEMBERS ABSENT : Commissioners Aldentaler and Vacha <br /> 19 <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Staff members present: Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br /> 22 <br /> 23 The City Council and Lino Lakes Charter Commission met in a joint session to consider <br /> 24 the Charter Commission's 2009 and 2010 budget. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Chair Dahl read aloud Article III, Section 2 of the Lino Lakes Charter Commission By- <br /> 27 Laws (regarding special meetings). She noted that the commission will be strictly <br /> 28 following those items noticed for this special meeting. She asked that everyone involved <br /> 29 in the meeting show respect even if there are disagreements. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Each person present at the table introduced themselves with their name and position <br /> 32 (commissioner or council member). <br /> 33 <br /> 34 There was no one wishing to speak for the Open Mike portion for the agenda. Chair Dahl <br /> 35 noted that Robert Bening was present in the audience. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 A. Cost of doing commission business, 2009 & 2010 <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Charter Commissioner Sutherland first distributed some written information to the group. <br /> 40 She thanked the three council members present for attending this meeting at short notice; <br /> 41 it is important for the commission to deal with their budget situation. She reviewed the <br /> 42 information distributed that included historical data on the commission's funding, a <br /> 43 revenue/population comparison of the city, and the commission's most recent bill from <br /> 44 attorney Karen Marty. She noted that the attorney bill indicates that most of the <br /> 45 commission's legal expenses of late have been associated with responding to the city's <br /> 1 <br />
