Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve <br />• Improve the entry experience and sense of welcome from CSAH 14 to the building <br />• Increase programming around 'Essential Experiences': Access to water and four Ecotypes, Birding, and <br />Tree House (Outdoor Classrooms) <br />• Improve the drop-in visitor experience <br />• Better serve current core <br />program audiences and expand <br />new program audiences <br />• Improve financial sustainability <br />The Development Concept Plan, <br />strategies and specific projects to meet <br />these goals are illustrated in Chapter 4: <br />The Plan in the Wargo Nature Center <br />Master Plan — March 2015, which can <br />be found in the appendix of this <br />document. The total cost for the <br />proposed improvements is just over <br />$7,000,000 with a 15% contingency in <br />2017 dollars. During the public <br />engagement process, the County asked <br />for input what projects the public would <br />want the County to focus on first. Out <br />of the twelve projects selected by staff <br />for input on, expanding the boardwalk <br />and/or extending the dock into George <br />Watch Lake was the top choice, <br />followed by a trail connection around <br />George Watch Lake to the Lino Lakes <br />YMCA and an expanded nature play <br />area. The next project is to construct a <br />trail connection from the nature center <br />to the existing Central Anoka County <br />Regional Trail adjacent to CSAH <br />14/Main Street, which connects to the <br />rest of the park reserve. In addition, the County plans to improve the indoor interpretation displays within the <br />Nature Center and also continue working with the University of Minnesota, College of Design — Architecture <br />Program on outdoor classroom structures for Heritage Lab.
